Caldwell Rechargeable Battery compatible with Caldwell E-Max Pro BT Hearing Protection

Product description

This recall involves the Caldwell Rechargeable Battery (model number 1108859).  The affected battery is compatible with the Caldwell E-Max Pro BT hearing protection earmuffs (model number 1099596), used for dampening sound while shooting firearms.  All Caldwell E-Max Pro BT hearing protection units contain the affected batteries.

Only the battery is affected by the recall, not the hearing protection earmuffs.

The battery is a 3.7V, 700mAh Li-Polymer battery measuring 3.175 centimeters (1.25 inches) x 3.75 centimeters (1.5 inches) x 1.25 centimeters (0.5 inches) and weighs 18.6 grams.

Hazard identified

In affected units, a soldering issue could allow the housing of the battery to become loose, causing the wire to short and conduct heat. This could result in possible shorting, bulging and overheating of the battery, posing a burn hazard to consumers.

As of July 14, 2021 the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada or the United States.

Number sold

The company reported that 88 units of the affected product were sold in Canada and 2,086 units were sold in the United States.

Time period sold

The affected products were sold from January 2021 to May 2021.

Consumers should immediately stop using the affected rechargeable battery and contact American Outdoor Brands Inc. for a free replacement battery pack.
