Product description

This recall involves the Rapala Rechargeable Fillet Knife with item number RRFN which can be found on the product's packaging.  The knife handles are black and grey. The Rapala logo is printed in red on the handle, along with the word ION in white

Hazard identified

Batteries without the white label with the ETL certification mark can overheat and catch fire.

As of February 1, 2021, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada.

Number sold

The company reported that 7,082 units of the affected product were sold in Canada.

Time period sold

The affected products were sold from March 2011 to December 2018.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled rechargeable fillet knife, remove the battery and look for a white label with the ETL certification mark on the battery. If the battery does not have a white label with the ETL certification mark, consumers should contact Normark Inc. for a free replacement battery. Consumers must provide a photo of the product demonstrating the missing label. The recalled battery should be disposed of according to local municipal waste requirements.
