Product description

This recall involves the Fujitsu LIFEBOOK notebook computer with red trim on the keyboard and cover.

Model number E744 is affected by this recall. The model number can be found on the white sticker on the bottom of the notebook computer.

Hazard identified

As the notebook battery pack ages, it may cause a battery-related thermal event and potentially pose a burn and fire hazard.

As of December 31, 2019, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada related to the use of the Fujitsu LIFEBOOK E744.

Number sold

Approximately 100 units of the affected product were sold in Canada.

Time period sold

The affected products were sold from April 2014 to October 2016.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately stop using the affected notebook computer and download and install the Battery Charging Control Update Tool (BCCUT) from the Fujitsu Website or run Windows Update on the LIFEBOOK E744. There is no replacement program applicable to the Fujitsu LIFEBOOK E744, customers only have to download and install the Battery Charging Control Update Tool as explained above.
