Product description

This recall involves certain model and serial numbers of Lorex branded 7 inch (18 centimetre) and 9 inch (23 centimetre) video monitors used with surveillance video security systems.  The recalled monitors have a black back and border. The name “Lorex” is printed on the top left corner of the monitor.

Lorex Security Monitors with the following model numbers, monitor sizes and serial numbers are subject to this recall:

The model and serial numbers can be found on stickers on the back or underside of the unit.

Hazard identified

Batteries in the affected monitors can overheat and expand, posing a potential burn hazard to consumers.

As of June 7, 2018, the company has received 19 reports of overheating and expanding batteries in Canada, and no reports of injuries. In the United States, the company has received 309 reports of overheating and expanding batteries and no reports of injuries.

Number sold

Approximately 4,300 units of the affected products were sold in Canada and approximately 22,000 were sold in the United States.

Time period sold

The affected monitors were sold in Canada and the United States from April 2014 to April 2017 in retail stores and online.

What you should do

Customers should immediately stop using the affected Lorex Video Monitors and contact FLIR Lorex, Inc. for return instructions to receive a full refund.
