Product description

This recall involves the Boosted Model B2SR lithium ion battery pack sold as original equipment on 2nd Generation Boosted Dual+ electric skateboards.  The user-replaceable battery pack consists of a black thermoplastic enclosure 10.5" by 7.5" by 2" attached to the bottom of the board.  The battery packs have an orange power button and the words Boosted Lithium imprinted on the battery pack.  The boards have serial numbers that start with S2634 through S2644 located on a white sticker on the bottom of the boards.

Hazard identified

Electrical short-circuit of printed circuit board (PCB) may lead to battery pack smoking or melting.

As of December 1st 2016, Boosted Inc. has received no report of consumer incidents or injuries in Canada.

In the United States, Boosted Inc. has received two reports from consumers regarding smoke emanating from the battery packs of their boards.  There was no report of flame, personal injury, or damage other than the two battery packs.

Number sold

Approximately 100 units of the battery pack were sold in Canada directly to consumers on Boosted Inc. website, and approximately 1,842 were sold in the United States directly to consumers on Boosted Inc. website.

Time period sold

The recalled products were sold from September 2016 to November 2016.

What you should do

Consumers should stop using their 2nd Generation Boosted Dual+ electric skateboards and contact Boosted Inc. to receive documentation regarding the replacement of the battery pack.

Please note that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada.
