Product description

This recall involves the Traxxas X-Maxx Monster Truck with model number 77076-04. The remote control truck weighs approximately 20 pounds, is approximately 76 centimetres (30 inches) long by 55 centimetres (22 inches) wide and is 10 centimetres (4 inches) above the ground. ‘Traxxas X-Maxx’ is displayed on the side of the truck and it is available in red or blue colours.

Hazard identified

The electronic speed control on the truck can short circuit, posing a fire hazard.

Health Canada has not received any reports of consumer incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of this product.

Traxxas LP has received 40 reports of fire and one report of injury to a finger in the United States.

Number sold

Approximately 96 X-Maxx Monster Trucks were sold in Canada. Approximately 4,900 X-Maxx Monster Trucks were sold in the United States.

Time period sold

The recalled products were sold from November 2015 to January 2016 in various hobby stores and Traxxas dealers in Canada and the United States.

Place of origin

Manufactured in Taiwan.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled products and contact Traxxas LP customer support or a Traxxas dealer to arrange for a free firmware upgrade and repair of the product.

For more information, consumers may contact Traxxas LP by telephone toll-free at 1-888-872-9927 from 8:30 AM to 9:00 PM CST Monday through Friday or online and clicking on "Support" and then "Repair-Exchange".

Consumers may view the release by the US CPSC on the Commission's website.

Please note that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada.

Health Canada would like to remind Canadians to report any health or safety incidents related to the use of this product or any other consumer product or cosmetic by filling out the Consumer Product Incident Report Form.
