Product description

This recall involves Kombi's 2013 production of Radiator and GTX Fever heating gloves and mitts for men and women, charger and lithium-ion rechargeable battery pack – 2 pack.

Radiator gloves and mitts are only available in black and have “KOMBI” written on the top and a leather palm. GTX Fever gloves and mitts are available in various colours (see table below) and have “KOMBI” written on the top and “GORETEX” written on the wrist and a leather palm. Both gloves and mitts come in sizes S, M, L, XL (for men) and S, M and L (for women).

The batteries are white with “KOMBI” written in black.

Hazard identified

While charging, the lithium-ion rechargeable batteries can overheat and burst posing a fire and burn hazard to consumers.

Kombi has received two reports of battery packs overheating or bursting in Canada, resulting in minor property damage and small burns.

Health Canada has not received any reports of consumer incidents or injuries related to the use of these products.

Number sold

Approximately 3,468 Radiator gloves and mitts, 298 GTX Fever gloves and mitts and 150 battery packs were sold in Canada.

Time period sold

The recalled products were sold from October 2013 to April 2014.

What you should do

Consumers should disconnect all battery packs from the electrical connections inside the battery pouches of the gloves and mitts immediately.  Consumers should also avoid charging the battery packs and unplug the charger.

Consumers should contact Kombi Sports Inc. in order to return the gloves, battery packs and charger for a full reimbursement. Reimbursement will only be issued upon receipt of the gloves or mitts, the batteries and the charger.  Consumers should ship the products to Kombi Sports Inc. at 5711 Ferrier Street, Montreal, Quebec, H4P 1N3 to obtain a full reimbursement. A shipping allowance of up to $10 will also be reimbursed. Consumers should include their name and full address with postal code in order to receive the reimbursement check.
