Product description

This recall involves the Fast Lane FA-005 Remote-Control 3 Channel Giant Helicopter with Gyro Stabilizer and Charger, Model Number 5F5F2F5. The model number is printed on the front of the product packaging and on the underside of the helicopter. The UPC is 886150510022.

The blue and white double-rotor helicopters are approximately 9 inches high (23 centimetres) and have the Lane logo on the top of the product. They were sold with a remote control unit, a battery charger and a carrying case.

Hazard identified

The rechargeable battery inside the helicopters can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers or nearby items.

Toys R Us Canada has received 11 reports of an incident related to the use of this toy, 2 in Canada, 5 in the United States, 2 in Australia, 1 in Spain and 1 in the UK. No injuries have been reported.

Number sold

Approximately 907 units of the recalled helicopters have been sold in Canada.

Approximately 6,412 units of the recalled helicopters have been sold in the United States.

Time period sold

The recalled toys were sold from October 2012 to January 2013.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately stop using the remote-controlled helicopter and return it to a Toys R Us store for a full refund or store credit.

For more information, consumers may contact Toys R Us at firm’s Website or toll-free at 1-800-869-7787 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. EST, Monday through Friday and from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
