Product description

This recall involves the Ryobi brand, Lithium-Ion 18V 4Ah battery pack, with number P108 and part number 130429028. The model and part numbers are located on the bottom of the battery. Any battery pack bearing a part number other than 130429028 is not included in this recall.

The green, silver and black battery packs have the name "RYOBI" on the side in white type on a black panel and also have a green stem. The batteries were only sold individually and not part of a kit.

Hazard identified

The battery pack can overheat and burst while on a charger, posing a fire and burn hazard to consumers.

One World Technologies Inc. has received four reports of battery packs overheating in the United States, resulting in minor property damage. No injuries have been reported.

Health Canada has not received reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of the affected battery pack.

Number sold

Approximately 2,204 units of the recalled battery packs were sold in Canada exclusively at Home Depot.

Approximately 54,200 units of the recalled battery packs were sold in the United States.

Time period sold

The recalled battery packs were sold from August 2012 to November 2012 in Canada and from September 2012 to December 2012 in the United States.

Consumers should immediately remove the battery from the charger, stop using the recalled battery pack and contact One World Technologies Inc. for instructions on the free shipping and repair of the recalled product.
