Joint Recall with Discovery Toys, Health Canada, and the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (US CPSC)

Affected products

Toddler Talk Toy Mobile Phones by Discovery Toys

Product description

This recall involves a red and blue plastic battery-operated toy mobile phone with coloured buttons labelled "1, 2, 3, 4" and "Play", small screen with a boy's face and the words "hello! hola! bonjour!", small clear antenna and yellow fabric carrying handle. When pressed, the buttons activate a phone ringing and "hello" in English, French and Spanish. The side button records sound and activates LED light when pressed.

Only model number 1231 is involved in this recall. The model number is printed on the toy's packaging. The date code 1001/0710 is printed on the packaging side panel. "Discovery Toys" is stamped into the red plastic on the back of the toy.

Hazard identified

The clear plastic antenna can break off, forming a small part that poses a choking hazard to young children.

In the US, Discovery Toys has received reports of three incidents in which the toy telephone's antenna broke off. A child was found with a small antenna piece in his mouth, but it was removed by his mother, and there was no injury.

Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these toys.
