Product description
This recall only involves humangear’s updated version of the capCAP product, which is an accessory bottle cap. The updated capCAPs were sold in green/gray, blue/gray, and black/gray color combinations for standard wide-mouth stainless steel bottles. The humangear logo is stamped on the top of the capCAP. Only caps with model numbers HG0501, HG0502, and HG0505 printed above the UPC code on the package are included in the recall. The recalled capCAP has a silicone seal, a rubber coating on the large cap, and a tab/slot feature on the strap, all of which the original capCAP does not have.
Hazard identified
The updated capCAP product may begin to leak, dislodge, or pop off when the bottle is filled with hot liquids posing a burn hazard.
As of March 30, 2017, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada. In the United States, the company has received 1 report of liquid leakage however, no injuries have been reported.
Number sold
Approximately 360 units of the affected products were sold in Canada and approximately 17,102 were sold in the United States.
Time period sold
The recalled products were sold from January 2017 through February 2017.

What you should do
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled capCAP product and contact humangear, for a full refund.
For more information, consumers may contact humangear inc. toll free at 1-800-604-1926 from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm EST Monday through Friday, by email or visit the company’s website and click on “RECALL INFORMATION.”
Consumers may view the release by the US CPSC on the Commission’s website.
Please note that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada.
